Alexandra Bagney

Alexandra works with Doctors of the World / Médecins du Monde as the mental health and psychosocial support technical referent for international programs.

Previously, she spent four years working for Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). There, she took on various roles – as a project medical referent, psychologist, psychiatrist, mental health manager and psychiatry mobile implementation officer – in the West Bank, Iraq, South Sudan, Niger, Mali, Sudan and Cameroon.

From 2011 to 2015, she was an associate professor of health sciences at the School of Psychology of the Complutense University of Madrid. She also spent over ten years – first as a resident doctor, then as a staff psychiatrist – with a Spanish public general hospital, Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre. There, she engaged in psychiatric clinical practice as well as research work.

Alexandra holds a PhD in Psychiatry from the Complutense University of Madrid (2015) and received her MD degree from the Autónoma University of Madrid. She has published more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
