Guillem is a researcher and software engineer who specializes in AI planning and model-based reasoning. He holds a PhD in Computer Science and MSc in Intelligent Interactive Systems from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Spain. While at UPF, he also completed research internships at Yahoo! Labs Barcelona and Melbourne University. Over the years, Guillem has focused on topics such as the development of novel exploration techniques for state-space planning, and the application of machine learning techniques to information retrieval problems.

After attaining his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher with the Artificial Intelligence Group of the University of Basel, Switzerland, and later at UPF’s Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Group, working on representation learning for planning. At UPF, he also received the Juan de la Cierva fellowship.

In addition, Guillem holds an MSc in Theoretical Computer Science and BSc in Computer Science, both from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain. His passion for learning about diverse topics also led him to concurrently complete a BA in Humanities at UPF, where he eventually focused on literary studies.

During his 8-year academic career, Guillem has co-authored 15 peer-reviewed articles in top-tier AI conferences, such as AAAI, ICAPS, and IJCAI, in which he also won the distinguished paper award in 2021.
